Labor Day Prep

How to Prep for Labor Day Weekend - Jaime Mass Nutritionals

It might be your last vacay before you get back to the grind, or maybe you’re just celebrating Labor Day Weekend and have plans for a little R & R!

Your plans might include a boozy brunch, sips on the beach or maybe a night out on the town... So it’s time to prep your body and mind to make it through the weekend as healthfully as possible!

Hydrate!

Do I sound like a broken record? I struggle with this myself, so I feel obligated to harp on it a lot! Make sure you're drinking enough fluids all day and I mean H20! It's hot - potentially humid - so we're at greater risk for dehydration. The last thing you want to do is consume alcohol and become overheated when you are dehydrated.

No fun. Major headaches, not to mention dangerous. So... Grab the water!

Probably a little TMI… but check your urine! It's a great indicator of hydration status. It should be clear with a yellow hue. If at any time it appears dark yellow, you're not getting enough water.

Sun Protection

Don’t forget a hat! The Dietitian in me wants to say a little sun is great for some Vitamin D. A few minutes is fine to get a little boost, but if you’re spending the day in the sun, let’s bust that myth right now - Vitamin D isn’t a good excuse to let yourself sizzle! This is coming from a NY’er who now lives in Florida AND former sun worshipper! Have a quick chat with your dermatologist about appropriate SPF, application timing, and please cover your precious skin!

I personally vote for a cabana, full coverage and SPF! I get my Vitamin D in supplement form to ensure I’m meeting my needs. No need to depend on the sun for Vitamin D, supplementation supports optimal Vitamin D levels and overall health all year round!

Liver Support

Your liver is one of your body's natural detoxifying organs. If you've been traveling this summer, live in a populated city with a lot of pollution, or spent the summer sipping a few cocktails with a less than optimal diet, you might have been taxing your liver more than you think!

To be clear, taking supplements that support liver health will not reverse damage from drinking alcohol. But stay with me - supporting your liver health is extremely important and there's a few ways to go about it!

1. I suggest consuming foods rich in antioxidants, adding in extra veggies deep in color as well as a variety of berries. Consider a supplement rich in antioxidants if you feel your diet isn’t doing the trick!

a. Why? Toxins and pollutants can wreak havoc on the system by creating damaging particles known as free radicals. Combat with antioxidants!

2. Consuming a supplement containing antioxidant rich Turmeric or adding a bit of turmeric to your daily smoothie can provide those powerful antioxidants that combat free radicals and support liver cell health.*

This is why we love Clean Slate for some extra support when our nutrition has been lacking and our environment is not the cleanest.

Clean Slate is a convenient capsule that packs nutrients, herbs and antioxidants that support your liver for comprehensive detoxification support!*

Clean Slate also contains ingredients that support natural glutathione production in the body. This powerful antioxidant is supportive of liver cell health and detoxification.* When we expose our systems to pollution, poor diet and toxic substances, our glutathione levels might decline as it works to combat these substances. This is where taking action to support your glutathione levels comes in to play.*

Choline and Inositol are also present in Clean Slate - both support liver metabolism of fat and cholesterol as well as healthy liver cell membranes which support detoxification.*

Milk thistle is another power player in Clean Slate. A traditional herb studied in liver health, milk thistle contains a powerful antioxidant compound known as Silybin which has been studied in overall liver cell health and rejuvenation of liver cells.*

Clean Slate contains ingredients such as calcium glucarate which helps the body detoxify toxins from pollution sources such as car exhaust and fungal toxins.*

Clean Slate can be used in several ways:

When you feel like your diet and nutrition just hasn't been on point, or perhaps you've had an extra cocktail here or there. Maybe you feel you could use a gentle detox and recoup!

When I want a Clean Slate I take 1 capsule daily for 2-3 months.

When I want to feel just a tad bit better about my indulgences and try to give back to my body, 1 capsule daily for a week does my body good, until the next time you feel you might benefit from a little love to give back to your body!

Healthfully yours,
Jaime
